How door delivery, transport and LR numbers work
When you order from Ready2chef, your parcel travels with a transport company to your town. Here is how that works, and what to do at each step.
1. We book your parcel
Once your order is confirmed, we pack it in sealed cartons, weigh and photograph each parcel, and book it with a transport partner that serves your area, such as India Post Business Parcel, Delhivery, VRL or Safexpress. Booking happens the same or next working day.
2. You get an LR number
The transport company issues an LR (lorry receipt), also called a consignment note or docket. It records the sender, the receiver, the number of parcels and their weight. We send you the LR number on WhatsApp, usually the same day.
With the LR number you can:
- Track the parcel on the transport company's website or by calling their office
- Collect the parcel from their office, or receive it at your door
- Raise a claim with the transport company if something goes wrong
3. Door delivery or collection
- Door delivery: the transport company brings the parcel to your shop or kitchen.
- Collection: you pick it up from the transport company's nearest office, which usually costs less.
We quote both before you order. Transport is shown as a separate line on your bill.
4. When the parcel arrives
- Count the cartons against the LR.
- Check the outside of every carton for damage, wetness or tampering.
- If anything is short or damaged, write it on the LR before you sign, and ask the delivery person or office to acknowledge it.
- Take photos of the parcel and the LR, and send them to us on WhatsApp.
That note on the LR is what makes a claim possible. Once it is signed clean, a claim is very hard to make.
5. If there is a problem

Minimum order and transport cost
The minimum order depends on how far you are from us, because transport costs vary with distance. We agree it with you on WhatsApp before you confirm, and we send the transport cost for your pin code first. How we ship across India →
